Mia Cowley

Legal Drafter

Mia joined 8PP while completing the final stages of her Bar qualification, bringing with her a strong academic foundation and practical litigation experience. The first in her family to attend university, she developed an early interest in advocacy through mooting and negotiation competitions, which confirmed her decision to pursue a career at the Bar.

Initially focused on criminal law, Mia’s perspective evolved following experience in civil litigation, where she provided support in dealing with complex financial matters and gained valuable exposure to courtroom advocacy. This practical insight proved formative and ultimately led her to 8PP’s forward-thinking and transparent approach to legal work.

Alongside her legal studies, Mia built significant experience in high-pressure environments, working for several years in hospitality at Liverpool Football Club. She was one of the youngest Room Managers appointed in the Main Stand, where she developed leadership, communication, and operational management skills—qualities that now inform her work in chambers.

At 8PP, Mia is involved in litigation drafting and case preparation across a broad range of practice areas, including financial disputes and housing matters. She is committed to developing a multidisciplinary practice and is particularly focused on building courtroom experience as she progresses toward full qualification.

Outside of chambers, Mia lives in Liverpool with her family and is currently assisting with a property renovation project. She enjoys running and travel, and values opportunities to decompress and reset away from the demands of practice.
